Every year, the Terrades Gallery exhibits 17th to 20th century sculptures, paintings and sketches. The graphic design of the press release annoucing the 2010 edition of the event is resolutely chic, simple yet stylish. A painting by neoclassic artist Charles Thévenin (1764-1838) is reproduced over a dark background : 'A Portrait of the architect at home' is a particularly refined work of art, one in which the onlooker feels ushered into the painter's home, invited to enter even the sitter's mind. The beautiful representation of this indoor scene is underpinned by an efficient yet unassuming graphic composition. Models sitting in their home would end up being a typical subject for 19th century painters.
