PENONE VERSAILLES

Every year the Chateau of Versailles is the host of a contemporary art collection. In 2013, Giuseppe Penone, head of the arte povera movement, brought the gardens to life with his tree sculptures which combine vegetable and mineral elements. The RMN-GP wished to capture this ephemeral encounter between art and nature in a catalogue dedicated to the exhibition. Like the work of the Italian artist which can be interpreted on many levels, the grapic conception of the catalogue offers different points of view – from the scultpure and the historic surroundings. The installations of Penone converse with the geometrical architecture of the gardens of Le Notre, the photographs of Tadzio resonate with the elegant and structured layout.
