FROM NO TO MATA HARI

The Guimet Museum of Paris, specialised in Asian art, commissioned Studio LWA to design a website fully dedicated to their exhibition on Asian theatre entitled 'From Noh to Mata Hari'. While the exhibition spans 2,000 years of history of theatre, the graphic elements and the soundtrack of the web pages replicate the atmosphere of the exhibit, displaying colourful masks from Japan, costumes and accessories from China or Indonesian shadow puppets animated by handles and rods. The design of the website arises from the scenography of the exhibition and the poster created by the museum. It provides both information and learning material via an interactive and responsive platform including videos and social network links. Studio LWA has worked with The Asian Art Guimet Museum of Paris to produce the official video trailer of 'From Noh to Mata Hari', an exhibition introducing 2,000 years of theatre across Asia. On a musical background of Asian compositions, stage costumes from Japan, accessories from China and Indonesian shadow puppets materialise before our eye, illustrating the great diversity of this art form, from Indian kuttiyattam to Balinesse wayang to Peking opera to Japanese kabuki. Whether epic, dramatic or in its puppet version, a play remains a visually potent narrative, an inspiration for Studio LWA's art direction of this trailer featuring still shots, costumes coming to life, shadow puppets and animation.
