The art of excellence combined with the savoir-faire of men ; such is the motto of the Bureau Interprofessionnel National du Cognac, a group of professional wine makers and wine merchants gathered to defend the collective interest of their trade and to foster the economic development of the luxury  beverage. On New Year's Eve, BNIC released a visual material in which its ambitions projects for the coming year were presented. The layout of the 2013 document echoes the cycle of life of brandy, from initial making process to final dégustation. The two stages of the distillation process have been replicated in the two-part tagline, in a tribute to wine makers' skills. The background of the advertising brochure, in earth and grapevine shades, is reminiscent of the amber colour the precious alcohol takes over its ageing process, in the oak kegs stowed away in dark storehouses. The rippling movement of the logo design suggests the pretty trace left in a glass when the brandy connoisseur gently swirls the beverage to make out its refined scents. These three stages in the art of brandy making and drinking illlustrate the strong tradition surrounding the history of eau-de-vie, a spirit originally concocted in the Charente river region.
