En 2012, le musée Guimet a accueilli une exposition d’envergure internationale consacrée aux rochers de lettrés. Un web documentaire permet de découvrir les coulisses de l’événement : réception des œuvres en provenance de Chine et des États-Unis, point de vue du commissaire, conception de la scénographie, installation des pièces, vernissage… Une équipe de tournage a filmé chacune de ces étapes afin de montrer la complexité d’une telle organisation. Les courts révèlent avec poésie la beauté de ces pierres collectionnées et chéries par des générations d’intellectuels chinois depuis la dynastie Tang. Un hommage au reflet du macrocosme dans le microcosme, que symbolisent ces rochers plurimillénaires.
In 2012, the Paris Guimet Museum held a topical international exhibition on Scholars' Rocks. A web documentary taking us behind the scenes of the event shows the exhibits from China and from the United States being delivered at the museum. The exhibition curator explains how the scenography was organised, how the exhibits were laid out and hung up, and we are even given a glimpse of the opening night. A production team recorded each step building up to the exhibition, revealing how complex the organisation of such an event can be. The short and at times poetic film shows the beauty of the beloved collections of stones long cherished by generations of Chinese intellectuals - since the Tang dynasty. A few minutes of reel to pay tribute to multi-millenial rocks.
