Archives du Nord is a bookstore selling both contemporary and antiquarian books. It specialises in art history and literature from Northern France, Belgium, the Netherlands and England. The visual identity revolves around the notion of headframe, inspired by the coming together of Northern landscapes, at the crossroads of several cultures. A headframe is a crucial element in the building and running of coal-mining pits. It represents an essential link between the darkness of the depths and light outside, in a metaphor encapsulating the bookseller's mission : to unearth rare books, out of prints or forgotten secrets. Together with the headframe, the monogram also includes a specific typographic design : a shadow cast by the letter 'A' forms the letter 'N'. Whether imaginary or real, those northern lands have captured the imagination of the graphic designers at LWA and led to the creation of a contemporary logo based on a traditional emblem. The logo design has been incorporated onto a number of communication materials such as a poster folded up in a catalogue, or a website. The website offers a specific tool allowing the visitor to open a library document in a white background area.
