Cette modernisation d’une lettre destinée aux machines à écrire est un hommage à la création littéraire. Le rouleau de Sur la route qui jaillit d’une Underwood, Chandler qui tape à toute vitesse une intrigue, Huxley concentré sur sa Remington… Tel un voyage dans le temps, New type évoque le lien étroit qui existait entre un auteur et sa machine. Ce caractère de titrage en bas-de-casse est utilisé dans la composition de différents supports de presse.
LWA has designed a typeface in a reinterpretation of the well-known ITS American typewirter font, created in 1974 by Joel and Tony Stan. Initially used on typewriters. The modernised version of the font is a tribute to literary creation, conjuring up images of On the Road's paper rollspurted out the Underwood typewriter, of Chandler typing away a plot, or Huxley in deep concentration over his Remingon. The New Type typeface travels in time to reflect the strong connection between an author and his/her typewriter. This titling in lowercase has been used in a number of press material.
