La Maison de la culture du Japon à Paris accueille en 2015 une exposition sur l’art textile, ou fiber art, un mode d’expression artistique exploitant les étonnantes possibilités de création offertes par les fibres. La trentaine d’artistes japonais présents à cet évènement fait ainsi véritablement sauter les frontières entre art, artisanat et design. Chargée par la Maison de la culture du Japon de réaliser la bande-annonce de cette exposition inédite, la caméra de Studio LWA a su capturer toute l’intimité d’un tissage, les enchevêtrements de fils de soie, de lin ou de coton filmés en gros plan, qui apparaissent tour-à-tour à l’écran avec douceur et souplesse, pour révéler des labyrinthes colorés de fibres synthétiques ou métalliques, ou encore de papier, laissant finalement place à d’époustouflantes étoffes et installations conçues comme de véritables peintures ou sculptures tissées.

The Maison de la culture du Japon, or Japanese cultural centre in Paris, is holding an exhibition on fiber art, an art form revealing the amazing creative potential of textile fibers. The thirty Japanese artists exhibiting their artwork will convince the visitor that there are no clear boundaries between art, craftsmanship and design. The Japanese cultural centre has selected Studio LWA to produce the commercial film of this unusual event : the camera enters the world of weaving by zooming in on intricate woven cotton works, silk threads, linen stitches, then softly fades in and out as it progresses through the exhibition, unveiling a brightly-coloured maze of synthetic, metallic or paper threads suddenly taking shape into breathtaking fabrics and installations, all designed in the style of genuine, yet woven, paintings or sculptures.
