Ironie de l’histoire, le film nous propose une mise à l’index du célèbre Index librorum prohibitorum. L’autodafé de la liste des livres interdits, établie par le Vatican jusque dans les années 1960, pose des questions fondamentales sur la censure. Georges Sand, Zola, Gide, Sartres, Stendhal, Flaubert… Les auteurs jugés comme sulfureux furent légion. Cette installation présentant un livre en feu entouré de miroirs est volontairement provocatrice. Du reflet à la réflexion.
Revisiting history with the burning of the Index librorum prohibitorum is what this film in a tongue-in-cheek spirit is about. Burning the list of books which until the mid-60s were banned by the Vatican suggests a reflection on the fundamental question of censorship. Amongst the plethora of authors considered blasphemous, the names of Georges Sand, Zola, Gide, Sartres, Stendhal and Flaubert are to be found. Clearly designed in a spirit of provocation, the installation featuring a burning book surrounded by mirrors is an invitation to ponder upon the double meaning of the word 'reflection'.
